Meet Dr. Seda

Intro video coming soonA short hello from Dr. Seda, filmed right here at Flora

Her story

Dr. Seda grew up in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. When she was young, her family's rescued dog had a litter of puppies, and they caught parvovirus. None of them survived. She didn't know then about vaccines or preventive care. She only knew how helpless it felt, and she decided she wanted to help other families avoid that kind of loss.

She volunteered with the Humane Society of Puerto Rico and Spayathon for Puerto Rico, then earned a degree in veterinary technology at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. As a veterinary technologist at CEVET, a specialty hospital in San Juan, she assisted with surgery, anesthesia, internal medicine, and chemotherapy. Working beside those doctors made her certain she wanted to become one.

She earned her DVM at NC State in 2026. She chose Flora for its diverse team, its AAHA accreditation, and the mentorship of Dr. Lima and Dr. Kidd.

“For me, caring for the person on the other side of the exam table is an important part of caring for the pet.”Dr. Francyrette Seda

How Dr. Seda approaches care

Dr. Seda wants every owner to leave feeling heard, supported, and comfortable asking questions. She believes the best plan is one you make together. She'll explain her recommendations honestly, listen to your concerns, and never pressure you into a decision. If she doesn't have an answer right away, she'll tell you and look into it or talk it through with a colleague.

As a bilingual veterinarian, she knows how overwhelming medical information can feel when it isn't in your first language. She wants English- and Spanish-speaking families to feel equally comfortable taking part in their pet's care.

Does Dr. Seda speak Spanish?

Yes. Sí, la Dra. Seda habla español. She grew up in Puerto Rico and is happy to explain your pet's care in Spanish so you can ask all your questions.

How does Dr. Seda help nervous pets?

She uses calm handling, treats, as little restraint as possible, and breaks when a pet needs them. When it helps, she may recommend medication before the visit to keep stress low.

Looking ahead

Dr. Seda is building her surgical skills, from routine soft tissue procedures to more advanced cases. She'll attend Zoetis' Power Into Practice training in Las Vegas for hands-on work in anesthesia, dentistry, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery, and she plans more training in surgery, dentistry, and ultrasound. She's also curious about eye care, cancer care, and small mammal medicine, and she's working toward her USDA accreditation.

One personal goal is to relearn American Sign Language so she can welcome even more families.

Outside the clinic

Dr. Seda and her partner, Diego, adopted their calico, Venus Sofía del Mar Caribe, from a shelter in Puerto Rico. Now 11, Venus is sweet, full of personality, and sure that everything in the house belongs to her. Dr. Seda loves hiking, the beach, movies, and traveling, especially to Italy and Spain. She's still exploring the local restaurant scene and welcomes recommendations. She's a coffee person (a cortado, please), and her grandma has called her “Fresa,” Spanish for strawberry, since she was little.
