Meet Dr. Kidd
Her story
Dr. Kidd dressed up as a veterinarian for Halloween every year from age 3 to 7. She grew up around horses and other animals, but she first chose broadcasting and placed second in the nation in a competition. Shadowing at a veterinary clinic in college brought her back to animals for good.
Her own pets shaped the kind of vet she became. One of her dachshunds had Cushing's disease, and another died from sago palm poisoning. Those experiences are why she works so hard to help families facing the same things.
She chose Flora for the team's commitment to advanced care and to continued learning, and because the staff felt like family. What she values most here is that no one rushes. Every case gets the team's full attention.

How Dr. Kidd approaches care
Dr. Kidd treats every patient as if it were a member of her own family. She wants every client to feel heard, to have time to ask questions, and to leave understanding their pet's health. For her, great veterinary medicine means working as a team with the family, catching problems early, and building a thorough plan for each pet.
With nervous pets, she slows down and makes sure they never feel cornered. She works with the family on a plan for that pet, which may include anti-anxiety medication before visits.
“I do the work of veterinary medicine because I am passionate about advocating for patients who cannot speak for themselves, using my communication skills to educate owners and team members, empower owners to provide the best possible care, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.”Dr. Alexis Kidd
Questions pet owners ask about Dr. Kidd
Is Dr. Kidd a good fit for my nervous pet?
Dr. Kidd is Fear Free Certified. She takes visits slowly, makes sure your pet doesn't feel cornered, and works with you on a plan that may include anti-anxiety medication before the appointment.
Can Dr. Kidd help with my pet's diabetes or Cushing's disease?
Yes. Hormone diseases like diabetes and Cushing's are among the cases she most enjoys managing, and she cared for her own dachshund with Cushing's.
Why is my dog itching so much?
It's one of the questions Dr. Kidd hears most, and skin and allergy cases are a favorite of hers. Book an exam and she'll look for the cause and work out a plan with you.
Looking ahead
Dr. Kidd is building her skills in surgery, dentistry, and managing critical cases like diabetic ketoacidosis and high blood pressure. Over the next five years she plans to train in ultrasound and endoscopy, and she's interested in behavior and nutrition.
Outside the clinic
Dr. Kidd shares her home with two cats, Mowgli (her “first baby,” who is a little spicy) and sweet Baloo Bear, plus Benjamin Button, a young cattle dog mix and foster fail who is now her running partner. She's training for the New York City Marathon and loves the beach, true crime books, and skiing in Steamboat, Colorado. She's a triplet, and she'll never turn down a café con leche.
